Secunda To Hazyview
Friday evening my husband and I decided it was time to take to the road again. We needed to get on the bike to clear our heads and re-energise ourselves after a hectic week at work.
We decided to take on Eastern Transvaal, which is known as a biker's haven with all its twisting roads and breathtaking passes.
We met our biker friends Janeke and Andre in Belfast, and took on the road to Hazyview via the Long Tom Pass. What a fantastic ride that was; the weather was spectacular and the winding road a thrill on the bike.
We stayed at the Windmill Cottages in the middle of the forest. We had a lekker braai and a few too many whiskeys. The next day we took a ride to Hazyview and Graskop. At Harry's Pancakes we had the most delicious breakfast. We stopped at God's Window on the way - what a breathtaking view that is.
After that we decided to head to Pilgrim's Rest and let me assure you it's not a very pleasant ride down the mountain with a Superbike. The road is very bumpy and narrow with a steep descent. And with Christa at the back pushing me against the tank it was not very lekker!
We rode through the town and then headed back home through the winding road...what a road it was, truly a biker's dream road.
It was a short one but worth it. We felt energised and ready for the week to come!
